The appendix is a thin organ that is attached to the caecum which is a part of the large intestine. It sits in the lower right part of your abdomen. Laparoscopic appendicectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure, done without a large incision. Instead, 3 tiny incisions are made. A long, thin tube called a laparoscope is put into one of the incisions and surgical instruments into the others.
